This is just a quick resource page to link together three important things for supporting PDAers.

First, this PASSING handout from Sally Cat, which is more of a perspective shift than a language primer, but it does touch on ignoring insults in communication:

Play Therapist PDA resource for working with PDA kids and helping their parents communicate better. SallyCat created this acronym: PASSING. Peace, Accept, Sensory, Sleep, Ignore, Nourishment, and Game time.

Next, this BASIC handout from Sally Cat, which also frames how to interact when communicating:

Sally Cat's guide to BASIC communication for PDA kids and their parents. Believe, Accept, Speed-free, Intuition and Chane are all part of the BASIC acronym to help parents and PDA teens and kids communicate better. Therapists can use this resource.

Finally, I want to link to this article discussing Declarative Language, which many PDAers consider to be useful phrasing and a helpful communication style. It's written by Pediatric Speech & Language Specialists, but the content is applicable to folks of all ages. It gives tips on how to adjust the way we speak and engage so that it can foster independent thinking. However, we know that these swaps are also more supportive to the nervous system of our PDAers!

Hope you find this little PDA play therapy resource helpful! Best wishes!

Kade
