LGBTQ+ ADULT THERAPY
There are many reasons someone that is LGBTQ+ may seek out therapy and there are skilled providers in our area to help with a variety of needs in an affirming way. Specifically, I love working with LGBTQ+ adults that are needing support with the following: general anxiety, autism, transitioning, "coming out", exploring their sexuality or gender, examining different relationship or sexual dynamics, self-esteem, and/or parenting.
Whether you have recently begun to question your sexuality or gender, or it has been a constant in the back of your mind and you're finally ready to explore it, I am here to support you during this process of realizing your identity and what it means for you.
If you are already firm in your identity but are experiencing some of the other challenges I listed above, I would love to join you on your journey and provide support. There is something so unique about having a therapeutic relationship with a clinician that knows the LGBTQ+ community deeply and shares in a non-heterosexual and non-cisgender identity.
If you are 18+ and trans or non-binary and looking for a confirmation of gender dysphoria letter (per WPATH standards), please reach out to me, as I also offer letter writing services. I use an Informed Consent model and it usually takes 1 session to gather pertinent information to craft the letter.
I can provide gender affirmation letters for folks in Washington and Idaho.
WHAT TECHNIQUES WILL WE USE?
Some folks do a lot of research and decide they want a therapist that uses specific modalities, perspectives, or techniques. I like to blend a lot together so that we can do what makes the most sense for you and your needs.
If you tell me you want to talk and process without any play or creative interventions, I will totally respect that.
For adults, I usually draw from the following:
Autistic-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing,
Existentialism, Gestalt, Adlerian, bibliotherapy, narrative therapy,
and Play Therapy (which includes Sand Tray and Art techniques!)
I’m also learning Brainspotting and hope to incorporate that soon.
There are other styles that I’ve learned but do not often use - if a specific modality is important to you, please let me know during our consult call.
